A green oasis steeped in tradition History since 1912
The garden, which covers approximately 15,000 square meters—nestled within Carl Duisberg Park at CHEMPARK (Kaiser-Wilhelm-Allee, 51373 Leverkusen-Wiesdorf)—has a fascinating history. The garden was created as early as 1912 on the initiative of Carl Duisberg, then general director of the paint factory Friedrich Bayer & Co. The grounds have been open to the public since the 1950s and even attracted nationwide attention in 2006: In the “Germany’s Most Beautiful Park” competition, this idyllic spot made it into the top 10.
The best part for planning your outing: Admission is completely free. From May through September, the park is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
As soon as you step onto the grounds, you’ll feel the hustle and bustle of everyday life melt away. More than 3,000 square meters of water cover the garden. Along gently winding paths and stepping-stone trails, you’ll walk right over the water and discover streams, small ponds, and gently babbling waterfalls.
